The Euro and West Midlands CHCs
A report by Garry Webb
CHCs would be affected, if not directly, by the adoption of the Euro in Europe. Though we would of course not have the problems that many financial institutions and businesses may face, CHCs should still try to be "Euro Compliant" if the UK is going to fully implement this currency.
Being "Euro Compliant" is not a difficult task for CHCs or indeed most small offices. They simply need to ensure that staff understand the Euro Currency and the symbol that relates to it. Computers need to be altered slightly too so that can both recognise and use the Euro symbol in documents. Printers are not affected by the new symbol as long as you only print documents using your system fonts and not the printer's own built-in ones.
A simple, quick fix is available from Microsoft or directly from this site which patches Windows 95 to enable it to use the Euro symbol in any Windows package. It replaces the standard Windows system fonts with newer, Euro compliant ones and takes only a couple of seconds to install.
